Eyes, mouth and ears are dealt with as special cases but there is still enough of the face left that needs some general consideration. Here we will look at the eyebrows, nose, and cheeks. And I solemnly promise, I will not deliberately make a pun like 'let's face it' in this whole section. That would raise far too many eyebrows, put your noses out of joint and be way too cheeky of me, wouldn't it?
- Eyebrows are quite sensitive and visible but there are really only 3 things you can do with them, pluck them, pierce them or clamp them. The opportunities for plucking, either one delightful hair at a time, or dramatically with wax or sugar don't come that often. Once you have done it then you won't have the chance again for some time, but it can add variation in a session. Doing it to the sub while they are tied into a chair is also more fun for them than doing it themselves or having it done at the beauty salon, unless they fancy the beautician of course. Piercing, either permanent for jewelry or temporary play piercing is possible and can be decorative. Clamps applied to eyebrows can also be startling to look at and give pain in an unusual area for the sub.
Eyebrows get plucked, sugared or waxed all the time, even by vanillas. The vanillas probably just don't enjoy it as much as subs in the right setting! Make sure you know what you are doing and don't take off the whole eyebrow unless you intend to. If you are piercing then pierce upwards so that the needle point is going away from the face and eyes and use sterile needles. All the usual recommendations for clamps apply. You will probably need to use quite small clamps and make sure that they are firmly attacked so that they don't spring off and hit the sub in the face or eye.
- A sub's nose can be pinched, clamped or pierced. If they are a human pony they might enjoy having it stroked. If they are a human puppy you might have to rub it in various nasty things in which they have been rolling. Naughty doggie!
We are not generally in favour of breath control so we would never recommend pinching or clamping a sub's nose while they were gagged. In fact it is more effective to clamp each nostril separately than to close the nose anyway. Play piercing is unusual but permanent piercing is not of course, however, that should be done by someone qualified to do the job. If you are stroking or rubbing your pet's nose, a) don't give pooch a chance to bite and b) wash your hands afterwards.
- Cheeks can be pierced but, again, it is a job for a professional. If they are used at all in play then most often cheeks are stroked or slapped. Stroking is seldom a problem, slapping sometimes is.
The phrase 'a slap in the face' is used as a symbol of the ultimate in humiliation and disdain. It comes rather too near to ordinary domestic violence for the comfort of an awful lot of subs and Dom/mes. Delivered hard it carries the risk of damaging eyes or the brain. Delivered unexpectedly it can cause immediate anger or deep emotional upset. Negotiate this type of play carefully with your sub BEFORE you try it!
